Xiaoyu Rachel Zhang

Xiaoyu Rachel Zhang was born in China and had her bachelor degree of literature in Japan. She started to practice yoga regularly when she worked as a trilingual translator in Michigan. Sitting in front of computer from 7:30 am till 4:30 pm five days a week caused her lower back pain and stiffed shoulders, this is the first reason to practice yoga. After practicing for a while, not only her physical issues were solved, but also her mind kept changing in a positive way. Xiaoyu becomes more thankful and confident. Since that she’d been dreaming to become a yoga instructor to help other people as well. What strengthened Xiaoyu’s determination is that once she took an Ashtanga class by an occasional chance, she fell in love with it immediately and went to her 200 hours Hatha yoga training and 150 hour Ashtanga yoga training. Thereafter, she realized her dream and started to teach yoga.

Meeting Jennifer is when Xiaoyu was 18 weeks pregnant, she is the first pregnant student in Jennifer’s Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga training. Xiaoyu and her baby Miya got a lot of benefits from the training. She began to teach Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga after taking 85 hours yoga training and Duala training with Jennifer and helped more than 30 pregnant ladies since August, 2013.

For the new goal of 2015, Xiaoyu is learning and practicing Raja yoga (mind of yoga) with her master. She hope to blend some meditation into her asana class to help her student change from inside out.
